Majmua Attar : The word ‘attar’, ‘ittar’ or ‘othr’ is basically an Arabic word which means ‘scent’; which is believed to have been derived from the Persian word Atr, meaning ‘fragrance’, others say Attar is an Arabic word, which meaning “fragrance, scent, or essence”.Majmua Attar has a spicy, warm, woodsy, earthy aroma. The attar is prepared by blending different herbs, spices & flowers together to get the exotic aroma that has wide demand in perfumery as well as aroma therapy based applications

From the early days Majmua Attar has used in medicines as a main ingredient. Attar includes some individual essential oils, which are known as suitable for fragrance use, such as Sandalwood, Ambar and Patchouli (a kind of mint, available in Indian Subcontinent ). If oil was made by cold rolling or traditional Daigh steam distillation, we call it true Majmua Attar (Perfume)  Attar. Most commonly these oils are extracted via hydro or steam distillation. They can also be expressed by chemical means but generally natural Fragrance which qualify as ittars are distilled with water. The oils are generally distilled into a wood base such as sandalwood and then aged. The aging period can last from one to ten years depending on the botanicals used and the results desired.

Technically ittars are distillates of flowers, herbs, spices, and other natural materials such as baked soil over sandalwood oil/liquid paraffins using hydro distillation technique with Deg & Bhapka. Deg & Bhapka techniques is being use even today at Kannauj in India. This is one of the oldest natural fragrant materials, nearly 5000 years old.
